Gobions Workparty Sunday 22th January 2006

After the very wet weather of the last couple of weeks, we have turned our attention once again to the pathing.

The East side of the Leach Fields has become very boggy, and people have been walking further and further into the fields and therefore over the dormant wild flowers. So we started to lay a new path surface today, but as out trusty "Bobcat" refused to start (battery problems it transpired) we only managed to hand load a couple of tons, so only a limited amount was done.

The problem is being rectified by a new battery, so we should be able to sprint along next week.

Two small trees had come down over the West boundary path, and we were able to clear those also this week. If you see anything that needs our attention, please contact me or leave a message on 07747 764 240 or contact Michael Jonas on 07977 517 867.

Thank you.

Iain

Gobions Workparty Sunday 8th & 15th January 2006

A Happy New Year to all our friends and visitors.

These two weeks have been spent finishing off the clearance of old elders and sycamore on the North path (just West of the sewer pipe) . The area has now been planted with oak, ash and other local species. We have invested in larger, although more expensive trees in the expectation that they will outgrow the sycamore and elder as they regenerate. We will be keeping an eye on them, and help them in their struggle against the competition.
