Three dozen pictures of Gobions Woodland in the snow were taken on January 29 showing the beauty of the place beneath a dusting of white.

Many local residents took the opportunity of a day off work and school to visit the area with their dogs and children.

This image is just one of many from a photo gallery capturing the day.

Holly planting on the north path

Taking advantage of the good weather we were out planting holly near the Canal and hawthorn on the North path near the rainwater pipe. Photographs taken by Dave Brewer are in the Gallery (www.gobions.fotopic.net - click on this link to access).

In three to five years time, the hawthorn should be big enough to layer, and a new hedge will be formed.

I'm away next week, and will post the next blog in two weeks time.

Regards
Iain

New Photo Gallery Added

We've built a photo gallery in order to store pictures taken by the weekly Gobions work parties. Some older collections of images, taken from the Brookmans Park Newsletter have also been added.

To reach the photo gallery, click on this link or click on the link on the right of this page. Captions will be added in due course.

Gobions Workparty Sunday 18th January 2004

Happy New Year to you all.

The team were back hard at it today, planting alder and oak trees. Some were to replace a number that had not survived. These are in the middle of the wood, by the cascades and lagoons (just South of Oak Tree Path) and the remainder in the Brazier Plantation. We will be back there next week to clear surrounding elder and sycamore to give the new trees a better chance.
